I recently acquired this eight foot pull behind cultipacker and wanted to build a three point hitch and keep the pull behind capability. I also plan on taking about ten inches off each end to make the working width six feet.

Cool modification!

That’s a roller/packer BTW. . A Cultipacker/Pulvimulcher will be much longer with a row of tines between the two axles.

That's going to be a lot of weight to hang off a three point.

That’s what I was thinking depending on his size tractor. It is a close coupled implement though.

I agree that its a lot of weight. I am shortening the width to six foot and maybe shorter if needed.

Yes I had noted that you mentioned you were reducing width to six feet. Might still be a bit heavy for your tractor.

If it’s not too difficult build the three point hitch first and approximate your acceptable width/weight by deducting roller segments. (If not too difficult. )

Hate to have you chop the frame and axles to find you need to shorten another foot. Not at all familiar with your tractor but by looking at the pics 6 foot would be a tad heavy.

Any way of scaling the roller?

One thing I would do if I were you, double-check those pins you have in the lower links. If the sticker on them does not say that they are forged, return them and buy the forged version.
If not, if you go to get them really tight the beveled ring on the pin side that the nut snugs up to will slip and move towards the pin side.
I had that happen on a three-point hitch single tooth ripper. I took it back and asked if I could just get enough of a refund to get forged pins, but they wouldn't do that.
They replaced the whole thing and then before I left the store, I purchased a pair of forged pins to replace the ones on the bottom links.

Not sure about the lift pins, they came from TSC. Rear lift capacity for my tractor (at 24") is 2,383 lbs. I don't think the cultipacker weighs even close to that even at eight feet. Shortening to six feet should remove maybe 150 lbs of metal. Mt tractor picks up a six foot Sicma tiller (maybe 800 lbs) like its not even there. I checked Everything Attachments 72 inch one row cultipacker and it weighs 850 lbs so I figure this two row cultipacker, shortened to six feet, shouldn't be more than 1200 lbs. Thoughts?

My thoughts - look at a few heavier built/more expensive 3point implements; there's a REASON that most, if not all, use clevis type lower mounts (pin supported on BOTH ends) -

My older Gannon box blade (about 1100 lbs), Priefert 6' tiller (about 800#), and Land Pride 7' "soil prepper" (about 950#) ALL have that type hitches... Steve

Now that you mention it my six foot tiller has a clevis hitch. I may have to make some adjustments as we go.
