I have a 3-point KK cultivator (see picture below). Can I change the chisel points to sweep blades to do a better job of "plowing" the ground? Have any of you tried this?

I think you will spend less money and have less hassle by just looking for an old sweep-style cultivator at a farm equipment auction or dealer. I don't think they are that hard to find and you will have an implement designed to do what you want with adjustable feet. I have one and I love it.

Thanks for the input. Do you have a picture of a "sweep style cultivator"? I'm not sure what one looks like.

I did it to my cultivator several years ago. I put 6" sweeps on it and I think they cost about $7 each back then. I put 1/2 sweeps in the middle so I didn't come too close to the crops. It works well to keep the majority of the weeds out of the garden, and it's a lot less work than the rototiller was.

Here are some pictures of mine. I saw two similar ones at a farm auction earlier this year. I have a middle buster for mine too, shown in one of the pictures below.

BTW: Based on what Paul (ToadHill) said, you may be able to add sweeps to your cultivator much easier than I thought. It won't be as strong as my cultivator, but it could be satisfactory for your needs.

Sweeps will do what you want. Once the ground has been broken up and worked the sweeps will work great. I'd just go buy some sweeps and put em on.

Again, thanks for the help. I've been looking for sweeps that will fit the KK cultivator so I can give it a try.
