The curl on my kabuto, one side is lagging behind the other, which makes no sense because they are the same circuit. The right side moves curls away first and then back second. The only thing I can think of is something is bent or a blown seal. Blows seal doesn't make sense though because I imagine then the dead cylinder should be last to move from either direction. I can't find anything bent though. I accidentally dug in a fork hard enough to knock the ssqa off one side, so I'm sure it's related to that but I can't find any cause for it.

Nevermind, I found a couple old threads that pointed me in the right direction. The bar that goes between the two sides was apparently twisted (not visibly). I put the side that was farther out up against a pine tree and gave it a little push/curl, bent right back into alignment and on my way I went.

I'm not sure if I should be amazed at how easily that tube bends or amazed at how easily the tractor bends it. ...

I had something similar on my M5040 although not as bad from trying to pick up too big of a log. But it would not straighten out by force, I ended up cutting the tube and welding it back at the proper alignment.

This seems to happen a little too often,,
has anyone ever "beefed" up that section, adding some sort of plate etc...
and have had good results from this?

How did you try to straighten it out, it was really easy for me, I just did a mix of pushing into the tree in low gear and curling and it bent right back. I mean seeing how easily that thing bends I can't imagine NOT being able to bend it with the drive of the tractor, let alone the hydraulics.

I am pretty sure it's meant to be a bit of a fuse. Strengthening it would likely cause something more important to break.

A well-built QA bucket or accessory should have its own rigidity, just as a pin-on would, no? And cylinder oomph should be pretty much equalized by the TEE'd supply line. Seems the crossbar should only have to be there to align the brackets for picking up an attachment.

I'd expect a grapple to put the most twist on it after what Ken45101 said, but what would be the harm in beefing one up a bit? Lots of differences in tractor size and loader lift power out there so ..... YMMV, right?

What happens is the SSQA pops off because the Grapple is not tight enough in the fitment slots. When one side pops off then the alignment bar bends. Not the other way around. Fix the grapple fitting and the problem goes away. You should Never be able to pop off one side of the grapple.

IMO a grapple is most likely to grab a cockeyed or lopsided load. (big log, etc)

I had a narrow bucket's top lip come apart due to poor factory welds (lack of penetration). It wasn't a HD model by any means & the PO had used it on a much heftier tractor. Dangled from one side before falling off. Luckily no damage to FEL. Re-welded (DC, rev polarity) and all is well. It will get a tougher test on the Deere if I can get hyd lines/fittings to FEL tight without weeps. (NPT vs JIS ... grrr...)

btw, crossbars on Deere's Allied 495 FEL with their QA are huge (6" x 3/8" upper tube, 3" x 1/4" at arm ends, 2" x 3/16" between QA brackets) as is 3" square x 1/4" wall bar on Aldomi SSQA adapter for it. (a 'multi-fit')
