Hey everyone, just curious if any of you may have built something or even think what i would like to build would work properly… my dad and i are currently building a homemade land plane to help smooth out my parking lot and help with some holes/rugs in my yard at my shop. My idea tho was to build some kind of box drag or something with tall walls that i could fill with 2-3 scoops of dirt with my tractor and drag it around the yard to fill in any low spots or ruts. I’ve tried to Google all sorts of things to try and find someone that’s build something similar but can’t find anything. The issues i foresee would be the box picking up over the dirt and just leaving huge clumps so i would have to weigh it down and also figured it would spread dirt on the grass when there aren’t any low spots but i’m not too worried about that. I also have a 1200 pound roller that (if the drag works well) I’ll hook to the back of the drag to pack down the freshly spread soil. Here is what we have so far for our land grade build…

Way, way ahead of you. I hope you are planning to add an offset blade in the other direction. If not it will pile dirt on one side.

I built my last one a couple of years ago. My first one I built 30 years ago.

I assume you are going to put cutting edges on. I have my cutting edges 1/2" below the side skids so it will actually cut some. Yours won't do anything like it is.

I was thinking that! But all the ones I’ve seen you can purchase or that people were building had two blades the same direction. I didn’t wanna run one opposite then find out it was a bad idea

The flat rear blade is up on the channel to let some dirt/stones underneath it. The angled one isn’t welded in yet, i’m going to notch the one end so it sits flush or slightly below the side rails.
