I finally got around to getting pictures of the custom chain hitches that TBN's own AntrimMan fabricated for me. They were designed for a 3/8" chain, but I haven't purchased that yet. I have used them with 1/4" chain, and they work great.

Here's AntrimMan's picture from when he made them (posted in another thread a while back).

And here's my photos of them welded on top of some 1/4" plate to strengthen the top of the bucket.

Those look great, what does he use to cut the slots?

That's a great idea, I could easily cut those out with my plasma torch.

RedRocker,

I'm not sure what he uses to cut them. I just saw them in a thread here, inquired about them, and got him to send me a set. Hopefully, he'll pick up on this thread and provide some input. I'll drop him a PM.

Later,

Bob, those would look even better painted Orange /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I actually had a set of weld-on hooks in my hand one day at the Kubota dealer but put them back on the shelf figuring I could come up with a harder way to accomplish the same end.
The ones at the dealer were made in India. Whatever happened to made in America? Yours were milled in red Rhode Island from red Chinese steel on an old grey American Bridgeport with Swedish endmills made from Russian(?) Carbide blanks by a green Northern Irishman who owns an orange Kubota. They look right at home on the Red Mahindra.
There are far more efficient ways to do it but that's how those two were made.
I'm glad to see you will get good use out of them.

All the best,
apolitical Smiling Martin

Thanks, Martin. They look good in RED, if I do say so myself! They'll look even better when I get by my Mahindra dealer to pick up a can of Mahindra Red. Dad just used some shade of red he had laying around the shop when he welded them up for me.

They've already proven very useful for moving/loading/unloading implements and such. I was using a pull-type disc behind my dad's Ford this past w/e to prepare a foodplot. The hydraulic cylinder is busted on the disc, and I needed to adjust the angle of the gangs. I used the FEL, chain hitches, and 1/4" chain to lift the disc just off the ground so I could change the angle of the gangs. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks,

BR

Looks really nice. I could use a set in GREEN

Awdirect sells "banjo eyes" made for welding on to a trailer for securing chains http://www.awdirect.com/awdirect/finditem.cfm?itemid=8975

But they are not made to mount horizontally like yours.

Yours are better, at least for that application.

You could cut the large hole with a bi-metalic hole saw on a drill press, it would of course be round. The slots can be cut with a sawsall/jigsaw and metal blade between the large hole and a smaller end hole. I don't think it would take very long to buld a set if you already have the tools.

Neat idea, I was looking at adding some hooks to my buckets but those look nicer.

I figured you used a mill, I was wondering if you had a cool CNC plasma or laser cutter. I'm lusting for a CNC plasma cutter real hard.

Martin,

I noticed you are in North Central RI. Your state is so small that I always thought your front yard was on the beach and your back porch was in Massachusetts! Just Kiddin. Those sure are a slick way to hook up a chain.
