Customized instument cluster - In search of inspiration

Hi Every one,

Thinking a building a custom instrument cluster ( as my tractor has a lack of Tach, oil, fuel and temp gauges ) just warning light ... yes very boring

looking for ideas. Can you guys post me some pix of your custom mods and add-ons.

Dash space is minimal on my tractor. I am thinking of a nice custom hood mounted cluster.

What have you guys done ? I've seen some pretty creative things on here... just nothing like what I have in mind

Although I have not built mine yet , I will be replacing the dash / cluster on my New Holland TC 30 . My reasoning is simple , COST !!! First gauge to go was the Fuel gauge , replacement cost at that time was $ 85 . On closer inspection of the broken gauge , I seen no reason to waste money on another one , so I bought a aftermarket gauge and float unit for $35 , ( including shipping ) , and have had no problems since , besides being more accurate !!

Since then the temp gauge has also gone ***'s Up , So I already have one of those but it is only installed in a temp. position , just to monitor while running . I'll end up keeping the tach and hour meter and basically just make a new face plate out of steel . Thought about Diamond Plate , but nixed that idea since I don't need the reflection off that blinding me . I figured just some sheet steel or 1/8" plate for face and go from there ??

When I added some instrumentation to my B8200, I fabed, from aluminum sheet, this. I added a coolant temp. guage, voltmeter and oil pressure. The gauges cost under $20, including adapter fittings. Didn't require any dash space. (for some reason, you will have to click on the link to see the photo. It's worth it!)

look at Princess Auto for the 3 gauges ( amps / temp and oil pressure ) when on sale ... or when the volts / etc ones come up ... they have bulbs in them to light up at night ... and a pretty good bezel to hold them ( or use the face plate and cut a hole to mount it )

going high tech and you can sometimes score the LED bar graph ones ...

Canadian, changed mine out for newer style gauges. I kept the lights for oil pressure and temp, i think that by the time you notice the oil pressure at zero it's too late, at least the light will be flashing first, Just my take of it...

Glastron, you are right on about keeping the warning lights! I just tee'd and took my oil pressure from that, keeping the low pressure sender. Everything still worked, with the gauges just there for information. That cheap SunPro set also had backlights...

Really nice work - if you hadn't said you made it I would have sworn it was a factory option.
You're making me rethink the whole "stock" thing, now.
