My Vemco T72HD flail mower had a cutter shaft bearing failure. I used it about 10 hrs since getting it, greasing the bearings 4 times during this period. The right side (away from the pulleys) is what failed. Pulley side is still good. During disassembly I noted the housing for the failed bearing was bolted on backwards so I'm not sure all the grease was reaching the bearing. Now I need an obsolete BCA N107 bearing. I could use any insert type bearing with a 1 7/16" bore as long as It coms with a 4 bolt housing. Bearing websites have not found me one and Flailmaster is looking. Hate to go back to my bushog as it does not cut as nice.

Sorry to hear of your flail mowers bearing failure.

These bearings bolted on backwards will fail as the seal is on the wrong side.

"All bearings are metric" and easily obtainable.

Take the bearing and housing to a KAMAN industrial sales
office if you have one nearby and they will help you.

Thanks Leonz. I'll look up KAMAN and see if there is one in Albuqurque. I'm going to to take the bearing and the 4 bolt cover as that looks like the easiest way to match it. The good news is I found a crack where the drum meets the shaft that I would not have seen. I should be able to bring this old piece of gear back to life again.

Just be sure to remove the flail mower rotor and bearing before you arc weld it.

I can and will advise you to replace both bearings as a precaution due to the
loss of the opposing bearing as it put more strain on the drive side bearing.

Find a good heavy duty truck/equipment repair shop and take your parts in and have them match it.

Bearings will have to be off just to get to the crack. The cuttershaft is off to my welder friend Monday minus bearings

WEll looks like you have it under control. I wanted pictures because I changed the bearings on my flail and I wondered how they compaired. Yours looks very similar to mine and mine was easy to get.
