Can anyone tell me where to get an inexpensive setup or parts to make a cutting oil pump setup for my drill/mill ? I am aware of the thread of the guy who built one using a Lowe's submersible pump but what about the gooseneck thingie to direct the flow. And a filter, and magnet base to hold the gooseneck, etc., etc. ? I read somewhere there is an inexpensive Taiwan whole setup available somewhere, but didn't see anything at Harbor Fright. I've checked Ebay too.

Smithy sells them and I believe Grizzley has them also.

I got a pond fountain pump from the Welkoop, a Dutch hardware and gardening store.
It was the cheapest they had, 25 euro. works perfect, it just doesnt like being stalled for longer periods when it gets clogged with goo.
But if you keep the fluid lever high enough it wont hurt as the goo of deteriorated cutting oil floats on top.

i built on for my bandsaw and plan on making on for my drill press lathe and mill. i just made a drip tray under the saw and put a container with a pond pump on the stand

Bob Cat Fan, what kind of cutting fluid is that you are using ? It almost looks like water. And what holds your plastic tube pointing at the right place and does it have a nozzle of some sort on it ?

i am using soluble cutting oil which you mix with water. the plastic tube i just cut down the middle and it just sits over the top of the blade.but when i make one for my drill press i will buy a nozzle from my local tool shop for $20 they are flexible neck and magnetic base.

Bobcat fan how long have you been using that type of coolant, and does it have a strong odor and have you noticed any rust or any thing adverse to using it? I heard that they had one that didn't have an odor and didn't cause any other problems but I don't remember who made it, they are probably all improved by now.

You will need to make a drain tray around the table as the coolant will run down the clamping grid and put a strainer on the drain before it goes down to the tank and filter it again before it goes into the pump ;)

I'm not going to tell you what a mess that a fly cutter will make when cutting let alone when flood cooling :D

You might want to look into a air chiller .....it's a lot less clean up work :D

it have been using this setup from a bobut 2 months. as for odor and rust the old school non synthetic stuff will smell but this is fully synthetic. i don't know what it is called but i came from penrite and the engineering shop decanted it for me.rust has never been an issues i have not seen any rust from using this coolant.
