I know that this has been covered elsewhere, and that King Kutter even has a step-by-step with pictures. With that info, I can get the job done. I guess my question is "Why would I want/need to?" My PTO shaft expands and contracts like a trombone slide, and would appear to meet any length requirements that way. So, before I start cutting, can someone wiser than I am fill me in?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, when it slides back and forth, if it never collapses all the way when you raise the 3-point hitch all the way, it doesn't need to be shortened. The only one I ever had to shorten was the one on my tiller when I used it on the B7100.

Jim, fyi.... I did not have to cut the pto shaft when mounting a new 48" KK brush hog on my new BX2200. There was still plenty of room for it to fully telescope in and out....

When I was still shopping for my new machine I stopped by a MF dealer.
Back in the shop was a "NEW" MF in two pieces. Wish I had taken a picture. The dealer said the new owner had hooked up an implement and raised it.... the shaft was tOOOOO long and it pushed thru the PTO housing and DAM aged a whole bunch of stuff.
As already stated I believe if you have room to "trombone" you do not need to shorten.
