Cylinder question - Tie Rod v Cross Tube

Carl,

I believe all the cylinders on the PT uses swivel eye ends..If there is any movement side to side, then you do not want cross tubes. Were you thinking about increasing the lifting force?

Hey JJ.

No, I am not going to increase the lift at this point. I have found on EBAY a company local to me that has great deals on Cylinders. I am picking up a 3" that is about 2" too long. But the ends are cross tubes and I may retrofit or just cut them off and put the ball eyes on. This new cylinder is for the tilt and dump that has failed (bent) due to impact force. I am going to give the 1.5" rod diameter a try (big step up from the 1" that is on it right now).

But, they have a tie rod cylinder that has a smaller rod diameter (1.125") that is the right length for the lift arms. I would go from 7000 lbs lift to 9000 lbs lift. Just a bit extra, not enough to break anything (not like jumping up to the 1.5" Rod)

But that is $150 the wife won't let me spend right now. All I am going to get is the tilt dump replacement cylinder.
