69 years ago today, when I was 4 weeks old, the invasion of Normandy began the "end" of WWII. For as long as I can remember I have been grateful that I have been able to enjoy farming in several countries around the world due probably solely to the success of that invasion.

Many thousands of Allied troops lost their lives at this time, including a great number of young American boys on Omaha and Utah beaches and in the few days following.

Please try to remember them too at some time today.

Amen to that. They knew what real sacrifice was (not saying others didn't, but they "knew" they where going on the "grill")

Add me to the list as well, I am somewhat embarrassed I had to be reminded, thanks.

I am fortunate to drive Route 29 in Northern VA every day or so. The flags (small ones) are still cared for on a good stretch of the road. As are the reminders of what the road is named for.

America is a great country, god bless America.

Freedom isn't free. The cost of eradicating tyranny is measured in human lives and bloodshed. D-Day was just one in a long history of brave men and women who have fought and given their lives. Just one day's remembrance is not enough. We have to constantly remember that our way of life was paid for with great sacrifice. May God bless all past and future patriots.:united-states::salute:

Thank you for reminding us. As time marches on, there are few of us that can personally remember that day. There are a few news articles I read today. One thing caught my attention, 600 vets of WW II are dying a day. Won't be too many yrs from now and there will be no vets left.

Some of you may not approve but here is a link to Rush Limbaugh's web site where he tells of his visit to France last week and his tour of the battle fields along the beaches of Northern France. There is nothing political about this and included in the link is a 13 min speech Pres Reagan gave on the 40th anniversary. Those men who fought and died there are truely part of the Greatest Generation. It is a good read.
