Have D140 that has following issue. At times I turn key to lights on, nothing. Turn key to start, nothing.
Other times lights on, or will crank & start.
New ignition switch didn’t solve.
Thought one of the safety switches was start issue but that shouldn’t affect lights?
Does anyone have tech manual? Would like to trace wiring. Manual should have troubleshooting sequences.
Would appreciate any help
Thanks, Gene

First suspicion is battery going bad. Or the connections at one or more locations corroded.
Sequence:
clean connections
get battery load tested

Thanks for the reply Have swapped batteries with my zero turn with same result.
Sometimes cranks, other times nothing. Sure thought ignition switch. Perhaps a 2nd faulty switch.
Headlights on at times, off others when key turned. Absolutely hate the safety switches. Need to jump those.
Hoping someone here has shop tech manual. I have one for my 4720 cab tractor. Lots of info and troubleshooting sequences.

One of the first places to look with those symptoms is the grounds at the frame. Don't just look, remove, check the connection to the cable inside, clean both the connector and the frame to bare metal, then reinstall securely.
