My B8200HST-4WD is a 1985 manufacture, and has the D950 motor. It has 1127.3 hours on it. I keep the filters and fluids serviced at factory recommendations or seasonal(Usually seasonal comes first).

There are a couple hills on my property(actually, the two slopes are the property). Where I could go up them reasonably in the past, it seems more sluggish this spring. My wife has noticed this too.

This tractor is only 19HP, in a full size "B" chassis. It is the same size, and in fact the great great grand-daddy of the B2710/2910. I have seen a couple references claiming 20HP. So, it has never been a powerhouse to begin with. It has three ranges; with only 19hp, HIGH range is only good going downhill with a tailwind...

I have the owners manual, and service manual. The service manual does not include the motor... Nor do either say anything about extended maintenance. They only indicate standard change of the fluids, check the belts and hoses ect.

After 24 years, should this thing have the valves adjusted, injectors cleaned, timing verified ect?

Of course, I still need to order the engine service manual to do any of this :D

Of course, my wife is getting spoiled; she uses a L3400HST now, around the nursery she is working at... Unfortunately, a new tractor is out of the question right now...

I have the Work Shop Manual for my B7200. It looks like it covers the D950 as well. I took a quick look and did not see anything about any specifics about extended service routines. It covers in great detail the tolerances and specs of the engine and tractor. It definitly gives valve clearances and bolt torque specs. I paid $77 dollars for it about 5 1/2 years ago. I just ordered it thru my Kubota dealer and had in about a week. If you are going to be doing any of the work yourself or just checking for wear and tolerances I highly recommend it. I have a tendency to do all my own work and the WSM is a must have. My B7200 is the first diesel I have ever worked on. Even though I was discouraged by my dealer I managed to put new rings in it with no problem about 5 years ago.

Have you tried any of the simple things yet? Check compression, cleaned the hydraulic strainers. There are 2 of them, one for the hydraulics and one for the HST.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes,:)

Sounds like you take decent care of your equipment. That's the most important thing. If you both feel somethings different,it most likely is.At 1100 hours,a valve adjustment would be prudent-not expensive or difficult.Injector cleaning-at this time I'd add a pint or quart of ATF(Dexron III)to the fuel tank.It wakes up sick diesels quite well.Otherwise, check or replace fuel and air filters.Good luck and post back.
