The engine on the Jap tractor is isuzu, they were used in cars early on too, prob also on small trucks, frankly, they are a gutless engine, but on a tractor in low range it is fine. The pump looks like most pumps, maybe I can work a way to cut the fuel, or, maybe there is a rod on the other side of the intake butterfly that also goes to the pump. But I doubt it, as said, now with small manifold leak, it continues to run, I have been wondering if there may be a cheap fix, maybe big gobs of heat resistant silicone.....

Intake butterfly?? That may be a hint. Most diesels are wide open intake; no throttle plate. Isn't there a compression release?

THE TRANSMISSION ON MY KIOTI IS NOT SYNCHROMESH. TRACTOR MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE SHIFTING GEARS OR SHUTTLE. IT HAS TWO RANGES--HI--LOW-- AND 4 SPEED TRANS. 8 FORWARD AND 8 REV. IT IS SOMETIMES A PAIN WHEN DOING LOADER WORK TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO SHIFT TO REV. OR FWD, BUT I'M RETIRED AND HAVE ALL DAY. I WANTED A SHIFT RATHER THAN A HYDRO BECAUSE IT WAS ANOTHER SYSTEM I DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH. I KNOW HYDRO'S ARE RELIABLE, BUT I PULLED WRENCHES FOR YEARS AND FELT I COULD REPAIR A GEAR TRAN A LOT EASIER THAN A HYDRO. OTHER THAN THAT , I REALLY LIKE MY KIOTI. THE FEL IS LIKE HAVING A HIRED HAND. THEY HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCHES ON SEVERAL MODELS. MINE WAS REPLACED BEFORE I GOT IT. IMHO-- I THINK IF YOU ARE CAREFUL TO HAVE ENOUGH WEIGHT ON THE BACK, YOU WILL LIKE IT.

Yep, it has a butterfly that the cable closes to stop engine, I will take a photo....

I will also take a shot of injector pump, as someone may see how else I can shut off fuel, or I might work it out.....

Ahh, the plot thickens, I thought the seller was trying to put one over where the box had been damaged....

No syncro is a pain possibly, my 80s tractor is syncro...

The hydro is prob not an issue on these, cause it seems the hydro just drives the box, basically like a cvt, cause to get the forward and reverse, means something is just changing the input direction, so they are prob pretty good, not complex like an auto trans....

That is my guess anyway.

I wonder how hard it is to change a manual to a HST...

I can really see advantages of HST, flat floor, joystick FEL....

PS how does the 4wd operate on them ? a lever, or always 4wd, I did not notice a 4WD lever, I saw diff lock for rear, 3pl controls and gears...

4WD IS AN UP-DOWN ROD ON THE FLOOR WITH A HANDLE YOU PULL-PUSH, LEFT SIDE--ON MINE-- REAR WHEEL LOCK IS A ROD YOU STEP ON ON THE FLOOR ON THE RIGHT. NEVER TURN THE FRONT WHEELS WHEN IN REAR WHEEL LOCK. AFTER USING MY "A" FOR MANY YEARS, I WASN'T CONCERNED WITH A SYNCRO. BUT THE "A" DIDN'T HAVE A FEL.
