I have a Daedong L3503-D tractor. The hydraulics (loader and three ponit hitch) were working fine during my last operation and when I started it up the following day, I had no hydraulic power for either the loader or the three point hitch. There are no visible leaks, the fluid level appears to be OK and nothing else seems out of order or broken. I am hoping its not a sheared shaft or some other problem within the pump so before I tear it apart I thought I would try the forum. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to TBN:D

You will first have to verify that the pump is turning. Was the fluid milky by chance?

Seems strange to have the condition change from working to not working without any outside interference.
Usually its you broke something and it's apparent ... blown hose or broke a shaft ... but it's apparent. The other scenario is you see/feel it functioning differently over time, such as a filter gets clogged or your fluid is low ... maybe a suction leak like that?
Was there anything you did during shut-down when the hydraulics worked? Anything that could cause a sudden shut down like that not mentioned?

Nothing unusual in the shut down. The fluid level is OK and I don't notice any milky appearance. It seems that the pump is not working, as there is no noise or action at all when you activate the controls. I will replace the filter first to see if that helps. There appears to be a gearbox of some sort coming off of the engine that drives both the power steering pump and the hydraulics pump. I have a feeling that a shaft or gear in that gearbox may be broken or sheared. There are no visible leaks and it doesn't appear to be sucking any air. Is there a way to bleed air from the system? My owners manual doesn't have that subject.....Thanks/Lee

Lee, if you have a gear box driving those pumps, your suspicions maybe right.
I was questioning why or what would have broken the gear box when it worked at shut down? Is there a "neutral" in the gear box? Perhaps a driving gear slipped out of location? If there's a way to look inside, try that when the engine is running to see if anything is turning.

no neutral in the box..its an enclosed unit apparently driven internally off of the engine. I plan to take off the hydraulic pump on the left side to look inside. I may just have to take off both pumps and remove the gearbox from the engine to be sure....thank for the help...I'll keep you posted.

I cleaned the filter and revmoved the pump for inspection. The shaft on the pump appears to be OK as well as the gear that drives it. Put it all back together and still no pressure. I removed the plug on the top of the filter and there is no pressure at all. Must be something internal in the pump. Will remove it again and inspect further.

Lee,
Did you test the pump while it was off? You can do that with a pail of hyd oil. I used a drill motor to drive the pump.

Second, what about the gear box that drives the pump? Did you check to see if the shaft that turns the pump is actually turning in the gear box?

I did not test it, but will tomorrow...the gear that drives the pump shaft does turn with the motor running so I assume thats OK. Thanks

I also pulled the plug at the top of the filter canister which allows access to the bottom of the pump and there was no pressure or fluid at all coming from the large pipe that comes from the trans. case to feed the input side of the pump...it just appears that the pump is the problem. I'll test it dismantle tomorrow.
