A couple years ago, an article in the Dallas paper addressed the dwindling water supply (long drought, low lake levels, etc.) and they had a write up about a purification process. They were going to build some holding lagoons, plant some water purifying plants, and divert water from river into lagoons. Then it would be pumped through a pipeline back to a lake for recycling. The plan is in motion. These pics were taken today on my way to work (from moving car) so sorry for not getting all details and closeups.

First pic is of work for intake from river (East Fork), between Crandall and Seagoville on hiway 175. Looking east toward lake Ray Hubbard (15 miles upstream). Second pic is of some pipes that will be hooked to pumps(?) for diverting water to or from lagoons, or to lake.

This work is taking place on both sides of hiway, on land that used to be a part of Caroline Hunt Trust Estate Ranch (and it may still be hers). She is one of the descendants of Nelson Bunker Hunt, Texas oil millionaire. The other pics are of the lagoons being built, and some have water and plants in them already. Dirtwork for lagoons was done by Rodman Construction (Dennis Rodman, the basketball player), and I don't know if his company is doing the pipeline work or not. My understanding is that water will be pumped all the way back up to Lake Lavon. Pics 31 and 33 are looking west

And here I thought DAFW was going to solve its water problems by flooding us out up here in East Texas. (Marvin Nichols Resevoir)

I think this is just one part of the equation, no telling what else they have up their sleeves.

Here is a link to the proposed pipeline project.

East Fork Water Supply Project, Conveyance Pipeline: Review of Design Options for Flow Metering and Lake Lavon Outfall

And another one

North Texas Municipal Water District

And a quote from same website:To meet the increasing raw water supply needs for the NTMWD, the construction of the East Fork Reuse Project commenced. The East Fork Reuse Project, commonly known as the wetlands project, will initially provide 81,400 acre-feet per year of raw water to augment the NTMWD’s water supplies for North Texas.

It's strange that Lake Ray Hubbard is on the East Fork, but it is not a part of this project. Dallas gets it's water from Hubbard, but this project, according to this link, is for the North Texas Municipal water district. Interesting reading.

Also, in an earlier post, I stated that Rodman const. was owned by Dennis Rodman, this apparently is not the case. I did a search and his name was not mentioned in info relating to company. My mistake.

Welcome to the Rodman Companies!

Whew, had me worried for a minute. I didn't think Dennis Rodman was involved.

Mornin BTDT,
I certainly hope he takes better care of his projects than his body !

Of course then I read your followup reply on Rodman Industries ;)

I'm glad Texas if finally trying to do something about their future need for water. A few years ago they were trying to get a deal on Southeast Oklahoma water.
