I finally got my grease and I'm about to grease her up! I've heard Boner (and others) say that it takes alot ALOT of grease. I've also heard people say that if you put too much in you can blow seals or something. Sooooo...
Is there ANY fittings that I could damage if I over grease. If not, I will Fill er up tonight!
note- I have the 60" deck, the fitting on the accelerator, and a loader.

ROGUE,
THE ONLY TIME YOU CAN DAMAGE SOMETHING IS WHEN YOU OVER GREASE A BEARING. IE: BLOWING THE SEAL OFF, EXPOSING THE BEARING TO DIRT OR FILLING THE BEARING WITH TO MUCH GREASE WHICH CAN CAUSE IT TO OVERHEAT.
WITH BUSHINGS, THE ONLY PROBLEM YOU MIGHT HAVE IS HAVING THE EXCESS FALL ON YOUR FACE OR DROP ON THE NEW SHIRT YOU JUST PUT ON.
HAVE FUN!

i.e. you CAN over grease the U-joints?

So the u joints have bearings and the deck does not?

Yes the u-joints have bearings, but I was actually asking if you can damage them.

I WOULD SAY THE U-JOINT WOULD NOT BE DAMAGED BECAUSE THE NEEDLE BEARING INSIDE WOULD NEVER ROTATE MORE THAN ABOUT 20-30 DEG. AT MOST. OVERGREASING MIGHT CAUSE THE SEAL TO DISTORT ALLOWING DIRT AND OR WATER TO ENTER BUT THE NEXT GREASING WOULD PUSH IT OUT. AND YES, I WOULD SAY THE SPINDEL FOR EACH BLADE HAS BEARINGS.

What about the pulleys? Are they bushings or bearings?
I went out and put 15 pumps in to the far right pulley (looking from the top). Absolutly NO grease came out anywhere. I put two pumps in the accelerator pedal and it came out everywhere. Is it just that they didn't put grease in it? Am I damaging this pulley/bearing/bushing? I've no clue...

Rogue,
If your MMM deck is like mine the grease will come out of the bottom and there is a metal cup that it will collect in. This cup is under the blade. When I cleaned the bottom of my deck and removed the blades, I took the cups off and they were filled with the excess grease. I put about two pumps in after about 5 hours of cutting the grass. Thats about ever other time for me.
