Straight line winds/ tornadoes hit our area Monday afternoon. The towns of Findlay and Sullivan had a lot of damage. I live in between them. I was pretty lucky just some damage to my shingles on the house and some soffit. I also had a few tree limbs down. It took the cover off of our boat and left it in the boat. It was a little ripped up. I had a farm sprayer sitting outside and it was moved about 20 or 30 feet from where I had parked it, but appears to be unharmed. To the west of me a corn field was flattened. So far I have found no damage to any of my crops. I spent most of Monday evening with the Fire Dept. guarding down power lines and a few small fires caused by down power lines. We also tried to check on the elderly in the area since the power was out for most of the area. I finally got home Tuesday afternoon to look over the damage at home. Wind speeds were estimated at 100 mph in the area. I spent this evening running a chainsaw at my neighbors cleaning up down trees. What was really amazing was there was no report of any injuries that I know of. It was really neat to see all the neighbors come together and help each other out. I have never saw so many chainsaws, trucks and loaders in an area in such a short time. My hats off to the power companies also. Those Guys worked all night trying to get the power back on for everyone. There were also some volunteers from other towns coming in with chain saws and trucks trying to help out where ever they were needed.
