DANUSER POSTHOLE AUGER

I've the chance of picking up a Danuser PTO driven post hole auger with two bits, 6" and 10". Price is reasonable but I've no experience of augers, particularly those where it's possible to change bits. Can anyone comment on how good this piece of kit is and what to look out for?

I have a Danuser PHD w/9" auger. Danuser is a top-o-the-line quality attachment. If the price is right and no apparrent damage, I'd take a chance and buy it. However, as to price, I wouildn't buy ANY used tool or attachment for much over 50% of new price, unless I knew the seller and could trust him that past use had been reasonable and maintenance performed.

Danuser is the high line of PHD implements as far as I'm concerned. I got cheap and bought a Lienbaugh (sp?) 7400. It is not close to the quality of the unit you are considering. Once I made a few modifications to add strength and got a stronger auger, mine works well for the price. However, no matter how you slice it, the model you are considering is of higher quality. If I could have gotten one for a similar price, I would not have hesitated to get the Danuser brand. Go for it. You won't regret the move. Also, unless you pay a huge amount for it, you can always sell it easy enough. Most people will gladly pay for quality. Good luck!
