Dark Photos

All of the photos I post seem to be darker than what I upload from the camera. I resize using ACDsee to fit the TBN requirements. Is that making them darker? Can I adjust the brightness as I resize? Here's an example which was quite bright from the camera. The decals on the tractor were perfectly legible in the original. TIA /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The software may be darkening the photos. I can see from the shadow that you were standing on the wrong side if the sun was behind you there would be no shadow and the pictures could be better, unless of course the software is darkening the picture.MHO

Rob, I don't use ACDSee so I downloaded a trial copy. I took the picture you posted and resized it to 640x480 (people will not have to use the left/right scroll bar to see all of it).

The original Exposure (Tools-Exposure) were; Black=13, White=6
The 640x480 Exposure (below) is; Black=12, White=9

So, in this case the resizing slightly lightened the picture.

What are the values of the original picture?

I have PhotoShop which is a great program but expensive. I use a freebee called Irfanview. It is available at DownLoad.com . I downloaded your photo as well and corrected the Gamma, took about 30 seconds. I also converted it to .jpg as they take less space. It is super easy to use and is small in size so you won't fill your hard drive. Very powerful too.

Hey, thanks for the ideas and efforts guys. I meant to play with this some more last night but didn't have time. Perhaps this weekend /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
