Ok, on to my next issue, when I went to start my ck30 today -11c outside I turned the key on to cycle the glow plugs and got a click, click ,clicking while the dash lights blinked with the clicking sound, then blinking and clicking went slower and slower until the glow plug indicator came on and dash lights stay illuminated as normal, glow plug cycled as normal and she fired up...this happened the last time out as well..?

low battery. check voltage and charging volts.

What he said. Consider your self lucky, you got some warning. Check charging voltage. with tractor above 1500 rpm you should see somewhere close to 14 volts. Anything 13 or below is a charging system problem. Mostly likely problem: weak battery, but if it is low voltage, when running , then could be loose wire on alternator, loose ground wire , or very loose belt, but most likely alternator issue. But still most likely weak battery.

Lucky, You got that right. If it was me the machine would wait till i'm the farthest from the shop and die. Then taunt me a bit with near starts.

I had the same problem last winter. Turned out to be a bad battery cable clamp. Check them well, as they do tend to stretch out over the years.

Clean the terminals and charge the battery. Both my CK an DK have done the same thing, both times, it was dirty terminals.

One of my battery terminals became lose, maybe from vibration, and made starting problems like low voltage. Also check the negative battery cable end where it's bolted to the right front of the frame. I cleaned mine and reinstalled with copper anti-seize to keep rust and corrosion away. How old is your battery and how often do you run the tractor? Batteries don't like to sit long without being charged by the alternator or a battery charger and over time, it may get weaker. Check, clean, tighten cables first and try start. Then charge battery would be second.

One thing I have done thru the years which I think has avoided a lot of battery trouble for me, is I use a product called No-Ox-Id. It is made by Sanchem. and is a grease with corrosion fighting agent in it. It is made to put on battery terminals. It will not solve a loose terminal or loose ground wire problem or save you from a dead battery, but it sure does solve any corrosion problems. You will never see any sign of corrosion on terminals or clamps when you use this product. I am still on my original jar, as it does not take very much. I started using the product in Telephony stationary battery installations and every installation came with a way to big for the job, jar. Now you know where I got my sample:eek:. but I have used it for over 30 years and it is the best product I have ever seen for this. I have also used it in the holes and under screw heads I have drilled into automobile sheetmetal to mount antennas thru the years. and can testify that when you take the antenna mount off years later, your bare sheet metal holes will be as shiny as the day you drilled them if you use this product. Never a sign of rust. I know I sound like a pitchman for this product, but trust me I am not. I am just a satisfied (non paying) customer.

I have had the same problem you describe. Don't want to admit it but have had it for about a year :mur:  but only when it is cold out. I have had to tighten my fan belt about 3 times and replaced it a few weeks ago. Finally, because of this thread, thought I better fix this. I cleaned the battery posts and inside of the clamps with emery paper and put on some dielectric grease. Still the same clicking. Then charged the battery over night, no change. Then took off the battery ground at the frame. Cleaned and greased it although it looked really clean. So still the same problem. Guess next thing will be to change out the battery. My tractors is almost 4 years old but who knows when the battery was made.

Sorry to get you going MF, I just came in from installing my battery, had tested it at 12.29v so figured I would charge it overnight.

Running,I am over 14v so alls good on that side, cleaned both posts and clamp ends ,not sure if this was it or maybe just a week battery, will check V now that it is charged...tractor is also 4years old.
