1.Ok you have the key to start. 2.The red button you push to warm glow plugs. 3.Lever is for throttle. 4.Dummy light below battery light is to tell you glow plugs are warm enough. What is the battery light for, and what is the other place on the dash that looks like it is missing a knob for?

I dont have that model & hard to tell from the pic , But looks like the Glow plug indicator as was mentioned in the other thread . Should be a small coil in there that turns a red glow that shows your Glow plugs are working as it gets brighter it lets you know when its ready to start it .

I have that model and it is a glow plug indicator. When I disassemble gauge panel to replace throttle cable, I find smal coil. I follow along the wire and I impinge on the glow plugs. Glow plugs you can turn on with ignition switch, turning back ignition switch. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's red button is for heating accumulator in cold weather. :)

The battery indicator on the right side of instrument panel is installed to warn you about low electrolyte level in the battery - in most cases not operational because you need special battery with electrolyte level sensor. The light below should warn you about clogged air filter - when red -> check the air filter. :) And the "red button" is just to check if all warning lights on dashboard are operational. Glow plugs are preheated by turning the ignition switch counterclockwise and when you are cranking the engine. And the "missing" knob is glow plug indicator - approximately after 10-30 seconds a small coil should turn red and visible. Thats how it works on my TU150, but in general - it is the same family.

If you look near the batttery, there should be a 2 pole connector. If you put a jumper between the two terminals, the light will go out.

Thank you guys for your help! I didn't know I had to turn key backwards to preheat the glow plugs and upon doing this the coil did turn red. And I looked closer before hand and did realize that it is a coil in there. Thanks again for the help, and I am sure there will be more questions.
