Hello everyone,
While all of the cylinders will relax within minutes and therefore need to be rebuilt soon, I have one that has external leaks that I want to deal with now.
Going through the various manuals and parts books for the loader and backhoe, I have been able to determine the sizes of the o-rings and backup washers. Luckily for me, they are the same sizes as those used for the loader which I worked on and have extras. If possible, I would like to have all the parts on hand before opening it up. This is going to be more of a quick repair than a rebuild, which I will look at doing once winter kicks in. These 1950's cylinders were from the industrial division of Cessna Aircraft.
1. If the backup washers are originally leather can they be replaced with non- leather parts?
2. I can not find info on the seal and am wondering if shaft size and bore is all that is required to determine the replacement part or do they range in thickness and depth that require it to be taken apart first?
Thank you,
Don
