I turn the clocks back last night, but when I woke this morning the temp was 22 degrees and there was winter blanket on the ground, yep one an half inches. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
The snow is falling even heavier as I write this...its to soon. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I guess Derek over in Vermont already plowing his driveway. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I guess you folks down south and out west are still with light shirts on and setting in the lawn chairs or mowing your lawns. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Oh well just a fore warning its a coming. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Thomas,

Over here in Michigan it's cold, it was supposed to get down into the 20's last night...must have, heavy frost on the grass and roof this morning. I'm jealous of your snow, I absolutely LOVE the first several snows! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

It's 70 degrees right now and cloudy. Got another half inch of rain last night. Beautiful weather!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Glad I got the yard mowed yesterday. I thought I saw a big patch of grass trying to get started in my garden plot, but went out there yesterday and found that it isn't grass; it's hundreds of little tomato plants that have sprouted where I mowed down the tomatoes and tilled them in back during the drought this summer.

We've been having our first real rain, here in Central California -- also a bit early. I hear the snow is piling up in our mountains, too.

It looks like I just barely got my culverts done in time. Too bad they're too far away for me to see how they're doing. Oh, well. I'll find out soon enough. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

The rain We have had has been great. Also the cooler temps. It hasn't been cold enough to stop the bermuda, but cool enough to get the oats and rye sprouting. The cows are loving it/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif They graze all morning. Siesta and chew their cud all afternoon/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gifI had about an acre of rye planted and this morning went out, at least 200 mourning doves were on it feasting away. Oh well. Plenty of wild grass around.

Yes, it rained like the Dickens here yesterday, and through the night. Now's when I regret my turf tires...

Tahoe Keys had 3" of snow, Bear valley 11". The morning snow level was dropping below 4000'(N. Calif).

Decided to stay out of the weather today; instead of using the tractor, gonna brew a nice "Barrel of Monkey's" Stout.

Thomas,

I was a camp helping to get it ready for my 2 week vacation in mid November. The camp is about 1500 ft. Butternut (Billings) mountain on the south side. It's near Johnson, VT. We had 3 inches of snow when I left camp around 5pm yesterday to come home. But the wind was howling! Windchill was down in the upper single numbers. I was nice two days with not phone, no computer, no electricity... just good food, hot wood stove, good coffee, and good freinds.

Hope this weather is a good sign of things to come!

Mid 80s and no rain for weeks in central Alabama and no forecast of rain anytime soon. I'm not ready for snow yet but some rain with cooler temperatures would be appreciated.

I just hate that it gets dark so early!

So do I! How do you get the Government to get rid of this sillyness? I know Arizona does not do it.

Anyone know why we still do this?

They kept daylight savings time during the winter for one year back in the 70's, at least where I was living in the east. Changed back to standard time the next year after massive complaints from parents whose little kids had to wait in the morning darkness for their schoolbuses.

Yup, I remember that.

Isnt Arizona kind of near the edge of one time zone? I think they see less affects of this lack of morning light when kids go to school, ect.

Anyone from Arizona?

I remember when the topic of kids going to school in the dark got so much publicity, and my parents thought that complaint was silly, since they lived in Anchorage at the time and were raising my niece. They said the kids there were used to going to school, and coming home from school, in the dark every day./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
