When checking the product advisor on both the NH and Case sites, the suggested tractor size for my needs is the DC48 or DX48. The prices surpise me however. NH shows a list price of 18 - 25k, while the Case site shows the DX to cost 22 - 27k. They both list FWD as an optional upgrade. Are these typical prices I'll find at the dealers? Why would Case be 5k more than NH?

I believe similar speced NH and Case machines have the same list. I have been pricing the 34hp tractor and equipped the same, they are the same price from Blue or Red.

I would think a 48hp would be pushing $30K MSRP for one fully equipped.

I would go out and check prices from your local dealers. List price is only a guide line and the dealer discounts may be different making the two closer in price at the dealer level. Case was not really selling the compacts around here when I bought my NH but a year later they came out and was really expensive compared to NH. But now they are even at times less. Get to your dealers, that is where you need to be.

The problem with comparing two tractor websites is you just don't know what you are comparing if you don't know every detail of the models involved. For example, The TC48 is a "non-deluxe" model tractor. (You did mean "TC" instead of "DC" didn't you?) It might be the most stripped-down version on the New Holland site. The DX48 is the most deluxe model of the Case tractor and it probably is priced with all the "bells and whistles" by the Case website. That's the difference. You will pay about $4000 (not $5k) more for the deluxe model Case tractor than the stripped down New Holland. If you get a true model-to-model comparison, I'd bet there would end up being only $500 to $750 difference. That could be special dealer incentives and many other issues.

As Murph suggested, I would also recommend you base your dollar comparison on what you find out at your dealer's lot.

That's what I needed to know... they will be close in price if equipted the same. For some reason I expected the TC48 to be more. I have been leaning towards a Blue tractor, but I have 3 Green dealers much closer. Then I realized there is a Red dealer as close to me as the Green dealers. I plan to visit them all anyway, but wanted to know what to expect as a price comparison. Thanks all.

WHen i was looking at CUT's i was told by a NH dealer....

NH has always marketed toward the CUT and bailer market and left the large AG market to Case.

So NH discounts there small equpiment and bailers more than there AG equip.
Case on the other hand does the oppisite

the red one and blue one might roll of the same assembly line, but it has to do with how the company wants to market them.
