Can anyone help me. I have rented a tractor for the weekend and stopped it for lunch and now it wont start. there is a chance i hit the pto lever while getting back on. i have power from battery. fuel gauge, lights etc.. but will not turn over. tractor is in neutral. that's about all i know about this unit. i would be happy to pay for a phone call if someone can walk me through starting this thing. only have it till tomorrow and would like to spread some dirt. thanks, mike

Is the PTO light on despite the lever being in the off position?

yes, there is an orange pto light on. looks like a gear on the light. matches the picture on the lever. by the way i can't move that pto lever. it is forward.

The PTO lever needs to be pulled towards the back of the tractor. The yellow PTO light on the dash should go off. The tractor will not start with the PTO lever engaged.

i don't know how to move it. is there a trick to it or another lever to disengage it?
thanks, mike

I'm not at my tractor so I'm not sure - there might be a slight detent in the slot - meaning you have to push the lever a bit to the right or left to let it slide back. If you were going through brush and saplings there might be a stick or branch stuck under the tractor jamming the mechanism. Look under the tractor and follow the mechanism, looking for blockage.

Please wear your seatbelt at all times, and make sure your Roll Over Protection Bar is raised, not folded. Have Fun.

Way to go, Chris. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Nice job! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Where else but TBN can you get such excellent advice and also in time to save the weekend rental fee?

I just wonder why he had such a hard problem disengaging the PTO? I don't think there's a detent on the engaged end of the slot. Maybe the linkage was binding on something as you suggested. There's no way of knowing what a rental tractor might have been exposed to during its life.
