First... thanks to everyone for responding... really appreciate it. I'm scheduled for a "maybe" Thursday pick up by the dealer, which I'm NOT looking forward to. $$$$! Would love to call and tell them to cancel. Some more info. The forward/neutral/reverse pedal is all one. I love it because I have a fused ankle bone and can go into reverse by simply lifting the pedal with my toe (foot doesn't work the other way. I started the engine yesterday (turns out it's a 5a fuse that blows) and I engaged the pto. The tiller lifts and so does the mower. Actually the mower drops first, so you can leave it on and mow with the tiller still far enough off the ground to not scarf the turf. The loader lifts fine. All the hydraulics seem perfect, and the pto seems fine... the tiller rotates and nothing is stuck in the tines. But still, within 10-15 seconds of accelerating either forward or back, the fuse blows. I called the dealer yesterday and told him this and he said it HAD to be a safety switch problem. Kubota redesigned this switch... way better than my BX model.. and I took it off, held it in my hand fully depressed, started the engine... same result. The dealer said there has to be a bare wire somewhere that's shorting. Unfortunately, while I used to do all the crawling around on the barn floor, I'm 74 now and not so inclined any more. This looks like a hard task for a younger man. The one thing I suspect is that since the mower won't lift when the hoe is on (have to shift the hydraulic line to it), and it does lift when I pull the hoe and replace it with the tiller, I may have pinched something when I started using the hydraulics to lift the mower. Normally I leave the mower on year round. I've looked for any sign of a bad wire, but once the wiring disappears into the center cowling, I'm lost. I'm suspicious this is an easy fix, but not for someone set up like me.
