Have researched the SCUTs and smaller Cuts and have asked a lot of questions here and elsewhere and to the best of my knowledge the BX2660 is the best fit for me. However, I say orange only because there are no Massey dealers close by. The specs and the overwhelming positive posts here stay in the back of my mind. I have orange, green, and blue dealers within 15 miles of me but the closest Massey dealer is just over an hour away. An hour isn't bad but I'd hate to have to pull the tractor there more than a few times if an issue(s) came up.

I've sat on all the models that are close but haven't tested out a GC. Knowing what you know now would make the drive and take a red one over one of the others that is so close? From day 1 on TBN, dealer support is the number 1 thing the seasoned tractor owners say is most important.

I'd at least talk to the Massey dealer. I agree that working with a good dealer can make or break the tractor purchase. My Massey dealer is excellent. There is a JD dealer about 10 minutes away, but everytime I talk to them, the blow me off. The Massey dealer is nearly an hour away, but has been nothing but helpful. They have a policy (their's not AGCO's) that if the tractor needs any service at all for as long as I own it, they will come out and pick it up and return it for free. Takes the worry about the dealership being an hour drive out of the equation.

For myself, if I had other dealers closer by, I would stick with the closer dealers. Exception would be if there was known issues with bad service or previous poor experiences with nearby dealers. Other exception would be great deal on distant machine. Resale will be more difficult on a machine with no local support. In my area, the MF, Mahindra and Kioti dealers are few. I do not consider looking at those machines.

Could ask local tractor owners there thoughts on dealership service..good/bad.

I would purchase tractor because location, for if your not comfortable operating plus performance like twice the work.

The dealer is very important but you really need to prioritize the tractors too. If you like the Kubota then driving another 45 minutes of the occasional service and parts would not be a big deal. I have 2 Kubota dealers and 3 John Deere dealers within 30 minutes of my place but I drove for 1 1/2 hours on secondary roads in the middle of nowhere to look at my Massey. The dealer was also a John Deere dealer and just to keep him honest I told him I was interested in the John Deere but noticed he had the Massey's. He said that I needed to be a **** fool to buy the John Deere over the Massey, in fact he said there was no better Tractor Loader Backhoe in the class. After owning my GC2410 for over 1 1/2 years I know my dealer is right it is the best choice and you compared to what I saw the other 2 are far lesser tractors.

There is a campaign to increase the tension on the hydro foot control and they called me to setup an appointment to come pickup the tractor and install the new springs etc at no charge to me. And did I need a loaner while mine was gone.

You need to look at the pros and cons of the purchase and while driving another 45 minutes is one downside getting a better more fuel efficient and more powerful tractor sure weighs high on my list. If you like the Massey and don't like the dealer then you might have an issue but there are a couple of excellent Massey dealers on this forum that will gladly sell you the tractor and have it delivered and set you up with on-line parts purchasing.

Fact is the Massey does not need much time in the dealer (knock on wood) and having a good relationship with the dealer is more important than another 45 minutes windshield time.

Nearest dealer to me is 2 hours drive. While it is a concern, as has been said already, initial quality and feel for the machine mean a lot to me. While there is always the unknown regardless of the quality of a manufacturer, I just feel better about running a MF.

I initially went to see my GC because the dealer was close, but then they closed that small branch, which left their main office, about 1.5 hrs away. Didn't bother me, I didn't figure I'd need dealer support that much. (Besides, I've found that small items, like snowblower shearpins, can be had at the Kubota dealer, about 1/2 hr away....)

They've since opened a branch office closer, but still 30-45 minutes away; still doesn't bother me. The tractor seems to be very well put together, and dealer has been helpful when I've had any issues- which I usually take care of myself anyway.

In short, I bought MF because I liked it better; dealer distance has not (yet) proved to be a problem.:D

I have a Mahindra, a John Deer and a Symplicity dealer 5 miles from my house (all different dealerships), the Kabota dealer is 15, the TYM dealer 10 miles and the Kioti dealer about 8 miles from my house. After pricing, test driving, comparing I chose the Massey even though dealership was 22 miles from my house. The Case dealer is also at the Massey dealership but they no longer make SCUT's :) The used ones I test drove were awesome.

It looks like Rick has branced out further, and has another location on RT11/103 about 4 miles from the in town one. Looks like he has maybe 40 tractors out there too, and it is starting to drive my neighbor nuts. (he is 73, and a confirmed Massey guy) The out of town location is much better for trying things out, and I expect that he will have more than double the service area there. Hope things continue well for him!
