1. Search this forum for Vina and VN tractors.
2. Wherever you buy first get at least 4-5 references from customers, some at least several years old. Most people are happy at first. Try to talk to a customer who has had a problem and see how it was resolved. Resolution, IMO, is a better guide than supposed lack of problems. Mechanical things will eventually all have problems.
3. Confirm parts availability. Most Japanese grey market tractors, other than Yanmar, have from moderate to almost non-existent parts availability in the states. Ask prices & availability of specific parts....starter, water pump, radiator, piston, rings...all parts you might well need. If a dealer/seller cannot quote you a specific price and part #, what are the odds they can get it when you need it? It's too easy to say "sure, we can get that." Ask to see their parts book for the model you are considering (What? No parts book? How DO they order parts? Believe me, many people selling these things cannot support the sale)
4. There is plenty of information to be had about this market in general, and many dealers or seller specifically. Pay your dues in diligence and research before buying, or be prepared to pay them afterward for not doing adequate research.
5. There are no free lunches. We don't always get everything we pay for, but we almost never get more than we paid for. If it's cheaper, well....that's probably because it's cheaper.
Good luck.
