Ok, I'm new, so maybe someone can tell me if I'm being rediculous. This might seem familiar from another thread .... I went to one dealer close to me to order a box blade and 3ph for my x728, they wouldn't even order the blade because deere only allows them to order them 2 at a time and he didn't want to get stuck with another one (bb1048L).

Ok, so I went to the dealer I bought my tracter from on Feb 21, ordered the stuff, gave credit card info (although they haven't charged me yet) ... and still not box blade, said it would be 30 days, its now april 2 ... am I expecting too much here? If so, please let me know ... I have no problem waiting if it's normal, but I can't imagine it takes over a month to ship a box blade, 3ph kit, and 3ph ballast box to connecticut.

He can certainly do a Dealer Locator Search (on the Frontier Dealer website) and see if there might be one closer-you may have to pay some Freight, but at least you would get it.

The other option would be for him to order it through a Short Line Manufacturer-they won't make him buy two, but it wouldn't be a Deere-

If your dealer is uninterested take a look at www.northern.com, or King Kutter. Get your tools in 2 weeks or less with no excuses.

I'm looking at a 48" box blade this year as well.

Ordered a 3pt bb from JD dealer back in '03 and what I got was an ATV trailer 42" thing.

Since then I only buy after I see it from that dealer.

Thanks, I know - I saw one one on one of those iron search sites or whatever it's called .... I hope he's not dicking me around, but man ... the ground is thawing, and I don't want to have to pay someone to do the landscape I wanted to do myself.

I asked him 3 weeks ago for an update, he said 30 days from feb 21 ... I figure I'll give him to the end of the week.

Your dealer may have had to order it in as whole goods. If that is right, they won't come in until a truck load shipment come in.

Speaking from a JD dealer perspective he is probly doing what he can. I haven't checked the lead times but because everything from Frontier is outsourced, your at the mercy of the suppliers of what ever implement they are making for Frontier. I'm not sure what your time line is like but stick it out if you can. If not you'll have to settle for shortline equipment. Hope that sheds some light on your situation. I can relate to not wanting to stock an extra 48 box blade. We have sold 2 in 5 years. The nice thing about the frontier it is a low, made for limited 3pt hitch.

In my opinion, this is one of the things that separates a good dealer from a bad one. I've ordered things from both. They should be up front with you about this type of thing. If they have no idea how long it will take to get the item, they should tell you that. If it normally takes "X" days, it's fine to tell you that, but if it doesn't get there when they say, they should communicate with you.

If they PROMISED you 30 days and it doesn't show up, they should be telling you why, backordered, or whatever. It's just good customer service.

I've dealt with dealers who NEVER called to let me know why my order was two weeks late. Never called me with any information period. Any communication had to be initiated by me. That's just bad customer service, particularly from someone selling EXPENSIVE equipment like this.

I've dealt with other dealers who cared enough to call me as soon as they knew the item would be late and advised me either when it would be here or that they weren't sure, but at least they didn't leave me hanging.

Sorry for the rant. Little pet peeve of mine.

The Deere box blade is a Woods painted green. You can buy it from a Woods dealer and it will probably be cheaper. Woods does not force box blades out in 2's.

Thanks ... that's very helpful...I sent my dealer an email asking him what was up, so we'll see what he says. If it's not good news, I'll look into the woods.

I understand where you are coming from, but it's also part of the deal when they become an authorized dealer.

Regardless, we'll see how this turns out. It's not like I have a huge selection of JD dealers in Connecticut, unless I want to drive an over an hour.
