Big shout out to Jason at J5 Tractors in Navasota TX. Doing some dirt work for my neighbor (no good deed goes unpunished) and my lift went out on my FEL (ML120). I felt what I thought was the control cable breaking and my joystick laid all the way back. Fun times getting the tractor back to my shop.
After accessing the joystick I decided this was bigger than a bread box, so I called to see how long it would take to get it fixed. Jason answered the phone and after a brief conversation asked if I had checked the connection at the control valve (I had not). He explained that there was a pewter pin that held the cable into the handle which is supposed to break instead of the cable. So an hour or two later (big hands in tight spots), I find that the pin is fine, but the cap that the springs push against is not screwed into the cable like it should be. Screwed it back in, tested it to make sure it wasn't stripped, put it back together, everything is working fine.
I called back to order a new rubber boot for my joystick and thanked him profusely. My point was in this day and age where most dealers MIGHT have taken advantage of me and charge me for a new cable and labor, he offered a suggestion to check before bringing it in. THAT is going the extra mile, they have been a great dealer all along and have 5 locations (I live right between two of them, so I go to Navasota because it is less traffic). It was worth a day off of work.
