Hi all,
Here I am the "New Kid" on the block and am already asking for help so don't come down on me too hard!!
Is there anyone out there who has any information on the care and feeding of a old Parker 8743 hydraulic control valve that is on the Dearborn 19-23 FEL? (I contacted Parker Hydraulics and no help there.)
I was having problems with my loader not lifting and I think the problem lies with the control valve. The loader worked fine until one day it wouldn't even lift. If the arms would raise they would go very slowly and then if you would pull the handle again, the bucket would drop.
So, I took apart the control looking for some obstruction in the spools. (First mistake.) After putting the control back on the loader and doing the plumbing nothing changed.
Next step was to check out the relief valve. (Second mistake.) When I turned out the relief valve I had pieces flying out of the control and landing in my drip bucket from the spring pressure. I think I lost some of the pieces and I cannot figure out the sequence of the parts and if indeed there is a small metal ball missing. (Third mistake)
Years ago when I bought the loader from a farmer he couldn't make it lift and it acted just like now. After talking to a Ford Dealer in the area we determined there was a steel ball missing from the relief valve and he had one in stock for 50 cents.
Only now I don't know the part number, size, or anything about that steel ball. Also I don't remember the position of the parts in the relief valve.
BTW, the loader works now but there is a definite "growl" in the system which makes me think the relief valve is leaking even if I have the adjustment screw turned in all the way.
So, is there anyone out there who has a exploded view or a picture of the relief valve, or has any information that can be shared on the rebuild and adjustment of the control I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks in advance!
