Dearborn Plow Purchase

Where can you get parts for a dearborn plows. I have a model 10-216.

07, did you ever find parts for your 10-216 plow? I just bought a Ford with that same model # and have ordered parts. I thought mine was a 14" plow as I measured it 14" between beams (center to center) but I am confused, as I thought the Model 216 was a 16" plow. I just ordered the 16" plowshares and now am worried that I should have ordered the 14". Although looking at the specifications, it appears they are the same, with the same hole pattern, but the 16" has a longer "tail" trailing. Does any one know is my Ford 216 is really a 14", and know, if it is a 14", can I use 16" plowshares? I even thought if they are too long in the rear, I could always cut them shorter if it really matters.

I also found shins, but they seem to be the same for every size. The old landslides for this plow seem to no longer be available, as I have searched everywhere, but mine still have some life. I just thought I would replace everything while I have it broken down.

Please advise me and offer your opinion on whether 14 and 16" shares would be interchangeable on a 14" Ford or Dearborn plow.

The 10-216 is a 14" economy plow that came with "sod and clay" bottoms. The 16" shares might work ok since the extra length will be extended into the previous furrow. I've seen them cut off also, if someone needed shares and the shorted length was not available. TSC stores in my area carry the shares and shins, but bottom plows are common here. You're right, I've not found a source for landsides either.

Thanks! I am learning a lot about plows. They are an interesting implement and really fun to use. (by the way, HCJ and HCJtractor are both me, one is my home computer and one is my office,I know this is probably not proper, but I don't know how to correct it. It confuses some people when I reply)

I am going to look at a 3 bottom Ford plow tommorow that is for sale from an old farmer. He doesn't know the model, but says it has "trip feet". Any guess as to what model this may be? I would assume that if it is a 14", it would use the same plowshares and shins as my 10-216. What do you think?

A 3 bottom Ford with trip will be the Ford 101 plow. It will be blue unless someone has painted it....BobG in VA

As BobG said, it will likely be a Ford 101. I picked up one this last year and converted it to a 2 bottom. Mine is a spring trip, and they also made shear pin models. I went over mine while I had the frame somewhat disassembled and replaced some the the smaller rusted out bolts, zerks, etc. The shares and shins should be interchangeable with your other plow. I like the 101 better in my soil (compared to the older ford plows). Let me know if you buy it, and if it's a 101 I can email you a copy of the 101 manual.

Thanks Mark! Everything I have read says this model is one of the best. I hope it's in good shape. I am driving about 80 miles tomorrow to look at it and hopefully buy it. Thanks for the offer of the manual. I might take you up on that offer. I recently damaged my Ford Economy plow (no shear pins or trip springs) when I hung an unexpected rock. I makes me a little "gun shy" to use it in our rocky soil, but it was working great. I have spent several hours pounding out 50 year old rusty bolts diassembling this plow. I ordered new shins and shares and will have it up and running soon. If I buy this new 3 bottom, I will have a spare.

Ford 101's were RED (same as the "red belly" on the late 50's/early 60's tractors) until the thousand series tractors came along, THEN they made the change to blue. MOST 101's were sold prior to paint change. I've seen FAR more red 101's than blue.

I just bought a 3 bottom Model 101 (10-341) listed on the label, and it was blue, but now mostly rust. What does the 10-341 refer to? It is in fair condition but needs a little TLC. It has brackets for coulters, but no coulter stems or coulters. The shares, shins, and landslides are worn, so I plan to replace them. The rolling landslide is also trashed, so I need that also. The hub and bearings are still good. The moldboards are in fair condition, but when I disassemble it, I can better judge the thickness and wear on them. They are part #104409. The spacing of the beams indicate it is a 14" plow. I am trying to decide whether to take the whole plow apart and sandblast each component, and replace all bolts, or just remove the bottoms and sandblast the remaining assembled frame. Any opinions?

I think I can find plowshares and shins. Does anyone know the OEM parts # for the moldboards, shares, shins, landslides, and rolling landslide. Are they available anywhere. I fear that the landslides may be hard to find.

If I can't find them, has anyone ever made landslides for a 101? Thanks for your help any any advice, suggestions, comments, and part sources would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I paid $375 for this, so I think that's not too bad. It should be a nice plow when it's finished.

Oh, are coulters available for this also, or would other brand coulters fit? Since I have the mounting brackets, I guess any round shaft coulter would fit.

O.K. Farmwithjunk, share some of your wisdom with me!!
