Can I get new knives for my 1954 Dearborn 14-67 6 foot sickle bar mower?
If so, where? Tractor Supply?
I see them on Ebay sometimes as NOS. But what about just new.

Another question. I see on ebay sometimes bolt kits to change out the rivets.
This sounds like a great idea to me. What do ya'll think.

Thanks.

Have you tried a New Holland dealer?

I haven't tried anyone yet.
I looked at the link and didn't see anything that said it was for Dearborn.

I was kinda hoping all SBM knives were a standard one size fits all thing.
If not, how do I know the ones I see on ebay will fit.

And what about bolts versus rivots. Any downside to using bolts.

My SBM is no where ready for knives yet.
I'm still working on just getting it operating.
It had one bearing froze up. and full of crud.
And the rest of it just needs disassembled, cleaned, greased, and put back together.
It is missing the mounting brackets, half the PTO shaft, and the break away stabilizer.
But I think I can fab these up real easy and buy the PTO shaft.

Thanks.

Try these guys... they found knives/rivets/bolts/adjustable hold downs to fit an old Gravely sickle. Give them a call with your knife dimensions and they will find you ones that match.

The bolt kits require a set of high clearance hold down clamps for the mower. These may be hard to find for a Dearborn mower?--Ken Sweet

Well thanks guys.
Now that I know I can get knives and stuff the rest should be a cinch.
Just gotta clean it up good and grease it REALLY good.

Do the rivots come with the knives?
How hard is it to do the rivots.
I understand about sheering them off.
But what about putting news ones on.
Do the rivot tools really help.

Thanks.

I can't really say... I went with bolts and the high clearance hold downs. Punching out the old rivets was easy after I hit em with an angle grinder!
