Hi All,

Well had a few days to think while some bug had the best of me. Going with the 2520. The 3120 was just too large for the area of land it would be tending. If I was looking to tend 10+ acres with it, I would have gone with the 30 series. Besides, my 2yo daughter has adopted it as her own and has to have seat time every day in "my trakah"

So, that being decided for me, here's what I'm ordering
2520
R4's
200cx with hood guard
61" bucket
snowblower (the CFO needs to see snow fly off the driveway or else....)
front Rops lights
(and maybe some implements for it depending on how willing he is to budge on his prices for them)

Now my question for you:

To load the tires or not load and go with iron weights?

I'm thinking it would be better to go with suitcase weights up front, wheel weights and for loader duty, ballast box.

The dealer wants $400 to load the rears with "ballastar" which is about $200 more than I have paid for loadings in the past, (calcium or beet juice) Also, I'm a bit concerned with making it "heavy" all the time not to mention the mess and expense of flats.

Tom , you made the right choice....:)
your going to really like it. as for me. i think everyone needs a hoe....:D
and a tooth bar. and a box blade and pallet fork. and a land scape rake
that i dont have yet...:( but its on the list. as for tire loading. i dont know much about it , others know alot more about that than I , but what i read here. i dont have my R4's loaded. mainly because i have a backhoe. and it keeps it planted pretty good. I would go with weights you can remove. specialy if you are going to mow with it. i have heard many say filling the tires makes it ride quite rough. Be sure to post lots of pictures when you get it....;)

Chris.....:)

Loading the tires is often recommended.
I chose NOT to load the tires, because when i mow with my 2520, I want it as light as possible, because I mow land down by the river on a floodplain.
When i use the loader, I want a good 1,000+ Lbs in the ballast box, so I just put lead in my box.

It works well for ME, so you need to decide what works best for YOU! :D

Enjoy the tractor, its really a slick machine!

Congrats Tom! I started without any wheel weight, and have just added a set of bolt-ons. I am pleased with the increased feeling of stability and traction, and am planning to add two more.

I have wheel weights on my 2520 (2 per side). I went with them over loaded tires for the reasons you mentioned. One down side is that they make it a pain in the neck to check your lug bolt torque.

When I bought my 2320, I told the saleman I wanted the tired filled, but he turned out to be incompetent as they come and when he delivered the machine the tires were not filled. But it worked out. Like Deadman, I have found that I mow some "domestic" grass now and then and like it light. When I use the loader, I hook up to the ballast box which I filled with concrete. Have not experimented with wheel weights, but have been happy with the applications thus far. Do intend to get I Match however.

"...and when he delivered the machine the tires were not filled"

Did you check the invoice to make sure you didn't pay for the filled tires? I'm sure you did, but I'm always curious about stuff the dealers forget about.

I was looking at a 2520 today. Those things just look tough. Like Mark McGuire while he was still on the juice. But I know that this has nothing to do with the buying decision.

Congrats - great choice I must say! I have loaded tires and really like them for stability and ballast for traveling around my property which is quite hilly - I do add the ballast box also for loader work (filled with concrete). I am not planning on mowing with it. It rides well for me but I don't know any different. Have Fun

Though the HP isn't a lot different than the "B" you had, they are a whole different tractor........ at least that is what I'm finding. The setup for the mmm is a huge improvement too.
