Anybody else have problems with your dogs wanting to eat all the chunks you scrape off the bottom of the deck? Our dogs will not leave me alone when I've got the deck flipped over, cleaning it. They'll sneak in, grab a chunk, and run off and eat it! I can't imagine they taste all that great, but maybe they do? I'm not about to taste one though.

We try to keep the "theft" to a minimum as we've had dogs get sick from eating compost (compost pile is outside the fence now).

Just thought I'd share this and see if anyone else has the same "problem".

My German Shepard would eat my composting lawn grass. I do not know why except maybe the clippings contain "little critter tartare". Jay

Dogs are definately the grossest of the gross. My old Golden Retriever would down a live field mouse in one gulp & chomp down horse poop like Swedish Meatballs! They love stanky horse hoof clippings too when the Farrier is done trimming. Our little West Highland Terrier keeps finding dead moles and brings them in the house. The wife and kids love that one.

And to think I thought my dog was odd for picking up the grass clumpings. Seems like its a normal behavior for them..

Both of my Goldens are grazers. In fact, my 8 year old was so hard-up for grass he ate the gravel in the dog run (it was this Feb) to get to it.

The net effect was a sick doggy, and a $5000 vet Bill for tummy surgery to have them removed.

He's also into "Kitty Jerky". He prefers it fresh from the Cat-Box.

Yes, dogs are indeed gross. Or, they know something we don't LOL

Cats are no better. They will eat grass or green plants just for the fun of vomiting. The worst morning I had was watching kitty eating his own vomit. Recycling :) Yummy.
