Mowed grass yesterday afternoon, noticed scalping when I had the deck all the way down, so lowered all the deck wheels by one notch to prevent me from going too low. Went out to finish mowing today, and the deck won't lower enough to cut the grass. I can't even get the deck wheels to make contact with the ground. I adjusted nothing from the way I parked it the night before. I've since tried turning the height adjustment all the way to the lowest setting, increasing the TPH speed knob, standing on the deck with the raise/lower handle in the lower position, but it just sticks there, 6 inches off the ground.

Any ideas? I'm really starting to regret buying this mowing deck - I could have bought a decent zero turn for what I paid for the MF deck. Should have paid extra for the drive over model, anyway...

Thanks for reading.

Have you tried raising it? Sounds like something is hung up, maybe a pin or a stick/twig. Raise it, check everything visually, stay fully clear and have somebody else lower it. Watch for any motion.

Thanks - I did look all around for obstructions. Nothing there.... I'll double check it in the AM when the lights better.

Do you have your 3 point hitch on?

Is it folded up?

If you do, I would bet one of the arms or side arms (3 point hitch parts)are snagging on something.

Happens occasionally with mine.

They are one of the best cutting decks I have ever had and no second motor to maintain.

Thanks, MoMower. You were right, with the backhoe on the TPH arms get hung up on the way up and won't go back down. I need to bungie them up somehow so they don't catch. I feel like a little less of a rookie today, thanks to you.

Best,
Steve
