I finally got the deer fence finished. My wife calls it "The Great Wall of China Maine"!
It's 8 ft high so I figure if the deer can get over it they are welcome to eat all they can! :D

looks like it should keep the other four legged critters out as well. Nice job.

You must really have a serious deer problem to build something like that!!!

We just ran one hot wire about knee high and smeared peanut butter on it. Once the deer try to smell it and get zapped on the nose the don't come back. I have seen a 20 deer on one side of the fence and not a track on the other!!!! Looks nice though.

Nice, but don't you guys have "Moose" up there? Seems like a hungry Moose can go where the he** they want too...lol. Fences be danged!

I have my garden fenced in too. 48", 2x4 mesh. Deer can hop over it, if they really want to. There's so much food elsewhere that they haven't bothered to try. Ditto with the turkeys, who tend to be very destructive taking dust baths. We do have moose and bear, which would both go right through the fence if they wanted to. Of course any animal that isn't kept out by the fence is automatically classified as a nuisance animal destructive to property and crops and fair game for termination.

I have a 6' chain link fence around my garden, and fruit trees. And as the picture shows I have more than a deer problem, I have a herd problem.

Here's my deer fence. 8 rows of Sunflowers in a 30 inch width make a nice hedge fence they will not cross. I read several years back in a garden forum, where deer will not jump over anything they cannot see the other side of. I also mixed in some shorter Black Oiler's to make it nice and thick. This will be the fourth year I've done it, and so far, no deer have been in the sweet corn. They do seem to attract lots of the little wild canaries. When they are done, I bush hog them down, and just adds more organic matter for next year.

I do put up a double strand electric fence for the smaller critters.
