I have been trying to get the 3 point on my 1968 JD1020 to work properly. I changed all of the fluids and filters but ut still wouldn't go all the way down. I was able to get it to go through a full range of motion by removing all stops from the rocks shaft lever and pushing the handle past the guide by about 4 inches. Is there some way to adjust the settings so it goes fully up and down while staying in the range triangle? (Don't know what to call that little part.)

It's possible the control valves have too much clearance. Valve clearance can be altered by removing hyd fitting in RH side of rockshaft housing and adjusting screw. Where is L/D control lever under seat setting? One has more control of 3 pt when it's set in "D".

First of all Adj your negative stopscrew with 1/3 turn freeplay ...located at rear end on right side behind slideblock is a hollow with lots of dirt inside ...remove dirt and you will find that screw....inline with screw to the rear is a hole .....use a 1/2 socket and an extention throu that hole ....unlock the locknut with a 3/4 spanner and do the setting.
Secondly....do the neutralrange setting by opening the plug on the rightside of the 3pointhousing ....squere hole in plug ....1/2 t-handle fits into it ......use a flatnose screwdriver .....turning in widens the setting and out makes it less remember to get 1/8-1/4 inch distance
3. now to get the full range of the lever......loosen the lever at its base.... 9/16 spanner and let the 3point arms drop own ....lever must move 1/2 inch up before arms starts to lift .....
4. For the next setting you need a piece of pipe 6inch long welded to a 3/4 socket with a nut on the other end........adj the lever to about 1/3 from the top.........then open the fillercap at the rear ......loosen locknut and adj the screw in or out untill arms starts to lift....lock that nut ....
All these settings is done with small lever in the D posision
For the experts .....please correct me !?

I'm no expert but are you stating set 3 pt control lever 1/3 of travel of lever or 1/3 inch from top of travel?? I have no utility tractor tech manual but I was thinking tech manual stated handle should be located a certain amount in inches from top of quadrant. All the remainder of your instructions sounded excellent except I was thinking L/D lever needed to be in "L" for adjustment of mechanism. Granted I haven't attempted or witnessed the setting of a JD utility tractor L/D mechanism since the mid 1980's which a lot of water has run under the bridge since then!!!!!!!

tech manual stated handle should be located a certain amount in inches from top of quadrant..........granted ! Check it out and you l see 1/3 of quadrant will correspond aswell

I think putting 3 pt control lever @ 1/3 of travel to adjust L/D mechanism is incorrect along with putting L/D control lever in "D" is incorrect. So I guess we will agree to disagree.
