Deere 1050 2WD

Looking at a 1050 2WD now. Has lousy turf tires front and back. Has chains on rear, also. Really needs rubber all around. Any idea of cost for ags on back and ribs on front?

Also, is this tractor worth a hoot, it appears to have more HP than the weight and 2WD can utilize.

Asking price 5400 seems high to me. Not sure of hours.

Unless the rig is solid, reasonable hours, no clutch problems, I'd say this is one to stay away from. Even so, I'm leery.

Better get in touch with a tire shop and verify there is even an ag tire to fit those small center turf wheels. Is not uncommon to need wheels as well. $5,400 can be appropriate for my part of the country depending on condition. With a loader though still 7k or less. I believe also power steering was an option on this tractor so will be a plus if it has since no JD parts to convert any longer. Otherwise the 50 series cuts where pretty good imao. The higher pto hp will be nice if doing agressive pto work but can tougher to translate all of the power to the wheels on lighter tractors. 1050 was Deere's cut beast in its day.

My 1070 is similar, it's got a little more horsepower, but a little less weight. The turfs I have are 44x80-20. I have been trying to get ags for a while now because mine is 2wd also. I think yours would take the same size ags... 13.6x28. I found a tractor graveyard in Indiana and bought a used set of rims with crappy tires for $300. Still need tires as those aren't useable. The good thing is that I will be able to keep the turfs on rims so I could change them out if needed. The 1070 does alright with the turfs for some stuff but not worth a darn for a lot of stuff. If you need new tires anyway then yes- I would get ags unless you are mowing your lawn with it. The tires are around $450 each around here for that size.

That price seems about average and from what I have heard they are great tractors.
