How do I get the front cowling off to replace a Deere 1070 battery? Original battery from purchase (1997 model)

:welcome: to TBN

That battery has lasted a long time.
Have a pic of that part needing to remove?

Have the owners manual?

Are you talking about the front grill? If not mistaken pull down the top of the grill and it's spring loaded and pull bottom off the pegs.

Yes, I've got the owner's manual; but nothing about the front grill/ cowling.

Thanks for the response. Pull down where? What about the hood latch on the right side of the grill assembly? Does it all come off in one piece?

Right below the head lights pull it towards you . The grill will hinge down its spring loaded. And when you have it pulled out a few inches pick up on it. To pull it out of pegs.

Thanks for the advise. I won't send a picture of the crap that fell out. The battery is in, but I think I need a new + battery cable (corroded at the battery terminal). Do I pop off the left side metal assembly to install a new positive battery cable back to the starter? Does it go through a grommet or something else to get back to the starter? Do I need a new grommet or whatever is there?

Thanks a lot from Jeff in Boring (the cosmic joke) Oregon
