Hello, I just got my mid mount mower today for my 2210 John Deere. I put it on and everything. And i have a couple questions. First off, are the wheels on that thing supposed to be locked ridgidly into the forward posisition because whenever i turn it either rips up the lawn or else it scrapes across the driveway (if i need to turn around in the driveway) is this how it is supposed to be? Second, the bar that goes from the deck to the front of the tractor, when the deck is down theres a little space were it usualy locks in there should i tighten this down by the front nuts or just leave it?
Other than that my mower seems to be working great except for that wheel issue. I had a few extra parts but i don't see where they could go. I have like a long straight bar, and a couple cotterpins and stuff but the mowers working fine.

I don't want to disappoint you, but the mower deck sounds like it is far from being properly installed, leveled, and held up by the tractor. It is not designed to operate with the wheels on the corners touching the ground. They are only for lifting the corners of the deck when on ground that isn't flat.

I am only going by your description (wheels digging in, and front bail loose).

Go through the installation and adjustment procedure carefully beginning with the air pressure in the tires, adjusting the left to right level (height from a flat surface), and then the fore and aft level that is accomplished by tightening the adjustment lock nuts on the u-shaped bail.

If you didn't instal the deck, then contact your dealer for a bit of enlightenment on his part, and their set-up people.

If I am missing the point of your message for help, don't hesitate letting me know.

I have the 54C deck under my X485, and think it may be the same deck. Regardless, Deere designs them all to be carried by the tractor, not run on the wheels on the ground. Mows best when adjusted right.

The wheels do not turn.
A pic of the extra parts would be helpful too.

Sounds like your wheels are set too low. The long straight bar goes thru the holes in your 3 point hitch arms with the pins used to hold it in place. This is necessary to keep the arms spread apart to engage the lift bracket for the mower. Suggest that you go thru the entire install again, you may have missed some other items.
