Has anyone had any issues with their oil light coming on a start up? I know this engine is in a lot of John Deere equipment so anyone with this engine can answer this; 4010, 4115, 4210....

When I start my 2210, the oil light comes on for a split second to 1-2 seconds (different every time). I have changed to synthetic oil (synthetic JD 0-40 +50) but did not make a difference.

So my question is... has anyone else had a light come on under similar circumstances? It started around 70 hours and I am at 120 hours now. The oil is full, the filter is new... give me your thoughts.
Most important... does your light come on at all when you start your tractors? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Mine does all the time. It stays on for a second or so.

My light goes off as soon as I release the key from the start position. Of course my 2210 is torn apart on the shop floor at my dealers, so I really don't have any room to speak!

Thanks for the replies so far. I need to hear from more of you with 70 + hours.
Hey 2210 guys, don't leave me hanging.

I have 186 hours on my 2210. The oil light stays on for a second after the engine starts. It has done this since it was new. I would consider it a normal condition. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have 77 Hrs and it's come on for a second at start up. I never really considered it a problem. It's gotta build pressure sometime...

118 hrs and my light goes off almost immediately as it starts.

Keep your replys coming!
I need everyone to chime in that can because I am building up some info so I can fight with my dealer. HELP!

Now, please also let me know (if you remeber) what oil you have in your tractor as well as the light duration. They say because I am using the synthetic 0W-40 it takes 3 seconds to build pressure.
I can see up to a second but in the last few days has been more like 3 seconds every time. This is not winter.

I am using Plus-50 15W-40 @ 150 hours. My oil has been changed every 25-50 hours with the first 50 hours using break-in oil. Every time I change my oil I see the light stay on for a couple of seconds the first time I start it after the change. Otherwise, I barely notice the oil light staying on at all. Your dealer's argument might make sense. You could try another oil in your next change to see if it behaves any differently.

I use JD PLUS-50. I haven't been provided a compelling reason to use anything else.
