Don't fight with your dealer I think he is right. A synthetic 0W-40 oil would take longer to build-up pressure than the standard JD oil. Oh, and I hardly ever agree with most dealers but in this case I believe he has a point. I would not worry about it.

I'm not suggesting we all wish our lives away, but it sure would be better, and more reassuring in cases like this, to have an OIL PRESSURE GUAGE for peace of mind. Sorry to yell. It wasn't at you guys, but at the engineers who think that all we need are blinking lights to be happy consumers. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

And yes, it is important that your oil pressure and circulation optimize as fast as possible at start. A couple of quarts of a different weight dino oil changed out as a quick check may be all the peace of mind you can find at this point.

I am using 15w40 +50 oil in my machine.

"When I start my 2210, the oil light comes on for a split second to 1-2 seconds (different every time). I have changed to synthetic oil (synthetic JD 0-40 +50) but did not make a difference. "

Just out of curiousity, I took a look at the 2210 manual on the Deere web site.

Per the manual:

10. Turn key switch to START position. Release key when engine starts.

11. Check indicator lights:

· Engine oil pressure light should go out within 5 seconds.

NOTE: Set engine speed at full throttle if indicator light does not go out after 10 seconds.

This is a bit of a guess, but you may have not seen the light on in the first 70 hours as the engine was still tight. Now that it's broken in, the clearances on the rings, bearings, etc. have opened up a bit...therefore a momentary delay in oil pressure.

So, it sounds like you don't really have a problem.

Using Plus 50, light stays on for for about 1 sec.

Thanks for all your input! I have not had a chance to get back here again to check your comments until today.

After seeing Roy's post I can finally sleep again. I never thought to look in the "start" procedure section of the book. Next summer I will use dino oil but in the winter I have to use synthetic because it is below zero to -21 for very long peroids.

I will now start my 2210 with a smile, not a grit of the teeth!
Thanks again for all your replies. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

My oil light goes out as soon as I release the key. It comes on when I stand up. (operator presence system kills engine) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
