Hello All,
I am trying to check/adjust the hydro pressure, I See a gauge & hose kit used in my technical manual but I am unsure of what gauge this is, or how do I get/make one????

Also, if my pressure is low, where is the charge relief valve located at?

I am pretty sure my pressure is low because the transmission makes a lot of noise while driving and as I begin to go uphill the noise gets louder and the it feels like it is "chugging" as it goes up.

If someone could point me towards a DIY article about this would be great too

I don't think it's possible to adjust the pressure.
Have you changed the fluid and filter? How is your hyro linkage? If it's warn and there is sufficient play, slowing on inclines is a telltale sign.

I guess it's possible the charge pump could be warn, but that is highly unlikely being how bullet proof these transmissions are.

well my cousin has 7 318's, who is also who I bought mine from, and he was telling me somehow you go in and shim the spring in the charge relief valve(technical manual says the same thing but is very vague on how to do it), he said he normally takes and shims his right until the pressure is to the max of what the technical manual says it can be at, this allows for a faster travel speed and more power to the wheels. However he is 2 hours away and I hate to take the tractor that far out for something I can try to figure myself.

As the other poster stated also, why are you wanting to do that? That does not cure the problem. Or do you actually have a problem? All hydros make more noise going uphill,or should I say,the more load the more noise.

Well I believe, from what the tech manual states, is that the relief valve spring wears, so by shimming it, it adds tension back into the spring. But yes it is in a sense buying more time.

So what about this gauge?? Where do I get one?

Thank you, Exactly what I was looking for :)

Also if you up for pressure it will cause more wear inside the system. So your cousin is wearing everything out faster.
