Deere 4100 Questions

Anyone know what front mount snow blades fit the 4100? Need the one that is quick interchange with the snowblower. Are the blades from the 700 series garden tractors the same? Can I reference a serial number anywhere online?

Also would like to know how a mid-mount mower for the 4100 is raised and lowered. My 4300 has a hydraulic with linkage that raises the deck. My old 770 used the 3pt hitch to raise the deck.

To my knowledge, the 54" Blades are all the same, but the mounting is different. You could use JDParts to help...Are you trying to find a new or used blade to fit your QH?

The MMM is raised by linkages and brackets that go back to the 3PH, probably very similar to your old 770

I didnt see any front blades listed under the JDParts for the 4100. I am looking for a used blade but would like to know which tractors' QH's match the 4100.

I thought the MMM might raise with the 3pt cause I didnt notice any extra control levers for it. Can you "lock" your MMM up for 3pt use?

Look under the 4110, it's the same machine with some different sheet metal.

I can lock the MMM up, but it requires another "kit" to do it. I posted some pictures in THIS thread of the kit, you could make it yourself...

Only the blade portion of the blade is the same as the other series of tractors (700, etc). The snowblowers, too. The angle / lift portion of the quick hitch is different for each tractor series. Also, ther is likely a drive shaft kit and perhaps some hydraulic hose setup you will need. The angle kit is optional - needed for the blade and broom, but not used for the snowblower.

The snowblower doesn't use the angle kit - the quickhitch is locked straight forward by a pin dropped through a hole. So if all you have is the snowblower, you probably don't have the angle kit since deleting it saves a few hundered dollars.

The angle kit adds a hydraulic cylinder and hoses that can angle the blade left to right. When you swap out the snowblower for the blade, you pull out the pin and connect the angle cylinder hoses. When you switch back to the snowblower, you drop in the pin, disconnect the angle cylinder, and connect the snowblower chute to that hydraulic circuit instead.

JDParts.com has great listings of all the various parts and kits for most every tractor they make, and I am sure the dealer could help you as well.

I'm asking if I can use an older cylinder from a 318 tractor for my angle. I can find a bunch of those around here. I think they are 8" when cylinder is closed. Get some line made up and I be good to go.

I doubt the 318 cylinder is going to give you a long enough stroke. That cylinder is also a double acting cylinder and most set ups use single acting cylinders for angle functions. You could use a double,but not the perfered way to go.

I have a 4115 which is close, when I bought it I also bought the 47 snow blower. This year I wanted to put a blade on it. I found a used plow at a JD dealer and was able to get it for $75. I built a mount for the plow that fits the quick hitch that came with the snow blower. The angle kit according to the parts web site was around $300. More than I wanted to spend. I decided to make the plow a manual angle. To do this I took a hole saw the same size as the pin in the quick hitch. I turned the hitch as far to the right as it would go and drilled a new hole, I did the same for the left. I then flipped the hitch over and welded a collar around the new holes (the center hole had the same setup from the factory) Now All I do is raise the blade, pull the pin and swing the blade to the side I want. Not a perfect solution but it was cheap. The only thing I would recommend is to mount your blade, pull the pin and swing it to both sides and make sure that it does not hit the ground. If it does you will want to adjust the position of your holes so that it does not swing fully to each side.

I found a cylinder off of a 54in blade that fit a 316. It fits the 4100 quick attach mount. I think I need to cut the cylinder end down a bit and drill a new hole. Swings to the right a little too far. Doesnt swing to the left far enough. Other than that, it should work fine.
