Oil & Fuel Deere 4320 e-Htydro Trans. Oil Change Problem

Hello:

Has anyone changed their trans/hydraulic fluid on a Deere 43x0 series e-Hydro? 2006 model - the book says remove the elbow on the suction side between the trans and the pipe to the filter.

This the firwt time the oil has been changed, the tractor has 400 hrs - it doesn't get a lot of use.

I can get the 2x 12mm capscrews off the elbow flange at the trans w/no trouble but I cannot get the elbow free of the tube - actually a steel pipe from the elbow to the filter housing. It will move a little but won't come free.

Book says ot remove this elbow to get to the suction side filter to clean it.

Can anyone give me a clue what I'm missing or doing wrong?

Hi GBW,

It's a press fit which can be loosened and freed. Adter a number of years, it's stuck...use a small oil filter wrench to turn the tube back and forth and just carefully work it loose until you can remove the pipe. The only thing holding the pieces in place arw the 2 bolts which you aleeady removed.

Thanks I'm grateful. I'd about decided to skip cleaning this screen.

So now I'm wondering how important is it to clean the screen?

The fluid that came out of the trans was very clean and I'm wondering if it's worth the risk of damaging the elbow, tube, or filter housing to clean it.

The issue is metal filings which you probably would never see in the fluid but might be in the screen. I own a 2006 JD4320 also which I service on a revolving schedule every Fall. This was the expensive, change hyd fluid year, and I did flush the screen. I didn't see any filings, but I felt good about doing it on a every 3 yr schedule.
