DEERE 4610 Steering Unit Leak

Hello, I have a 2001 4610 4WD and noticed that hyd fluid was spilling out onto the footwell. I removed to the degree I can, the covers and the fluid is coming from the steering controller, or whatever it is called.

I do not have manual for this. I can not get the cover off that has the tilt wheel stuff attached (stuck at that point) and would wonder if anyone has taken this off, and what can be done about the power steering controller (unit is cylindrical - has four hoses on bottom )

Can it be rebuilt, or is there a rebuild exchange program?

It's called a steering valve. Parts only shows replacement, no kits. You still might ask the service department if they can rebuild it and parts if they sell rebuilt or only new units.

Are you sure it's the valve and not a bad hose or hose connection?

I find the hoses at the bottom, but the entire unit with oil, which appears to come from the top down. I got the cover off, it was silly easy after I figured it out. I will probably replace with new, the last one went 11 years, and it is too hard to get at to worry about another failure. Thanks, Zebra

Further update. JD wanted anywhere from 900.00 for the part, to my good-guy price of 651 plus tax and shipping. I found that it is a Sauer Danfoss unit and found the proper one at Midwest Steering and the saving was pretty impressive. I won't use non-Deere fluids or filters, but this part was while not generic, was a supplied part and the OEM item was had for a 350.00 savings. HUGS and thanks for all the help
