I just bought a Deere 510 industrial tractor, loader/backhoe. It doesn稚 run currently, the guy I bought it from started to take the injection pump out but got sick so never finished the project. He said he was digging a stump out and the engine started to runaway and he got it shut off by stalling it out. I have been doing a little reading, and injection pump seems to make sense to a point, but sounds like most people say the Roosa-master pumps don稚 really runaway. The other part to this is he said he had just had the head gasket replaced before this happened, less than an hour run time since. This is a non turbo 4.4L 4 cylinder, pretty basic. Just wondering if there was something that could have gone wrong with the head gasket replacement that could cause runaway, or should I just send out the pump? I知 a car mechanic and I know how diesels operate for the most part, but I haven稚 really had to work on them much.
