deere F725 runs then dies

my F725 has been a workhorse at the lake for years but this weekend it would run for 30 mins and die like its out of gas, starts right up for a few mins then dies, sit for a hour and runs good for 15 mins, figured it was a fuel issue so took the covers off to get to the fuel bowl, figured if it dies the bowl should be close to empty, cranking it over noticed gas dripping form the weep hole on pump was dripping.

this leads to a bad pump, removed and gas was between the motor and pump area so my question is, coincidence the pump drips and motor dies or do you feel its a bad pump? next the Deere dealer has the pump but its close to 300 dollars with taxes, google search has then on line for 20 to 40 dollars is there really that much difference? would a electric for 50 be a better option?

You definitely have a bad pump. Might be a good idea to change the oil and filter with the pump.

I recently replaced the pump on mine and went through the carb. Still having a problem below half a tank. It also doesn't idle but otherwise runs fine if I keep it full and under a load. I need to pull the carb back off and go through it again.

It's a fuel pump, just go with the least expensive.

yep will be going with the cheapest on amazon and double the postage, down side is the wait for delivery, but not willing to pay 275 for a Deer one

considered putting a electric one but nothing here with the 1/4 line and cheap

so a update, ordered 2 options from Amazon, one a pump 22 dollars and a small electric pump 15 dollars also Amazon, nothing here in Canada under 200 so got a few days wait until I can try it

Keep in mind that the fuel pressure to the carb has to stay below a certain limit. From the Kaw FD590V manual, fuel pressure to the carb should be no more that 0.36PSI. A lot of electric fuel pumps deliver more pressure than that.

here is the update,the mechanical pump arrived, it tracked lost so ordered a second one and have a spare, the unit started great and ran like a top but has a gas leak from around the fuel bowl, we took it off to confirm pup, looked at the bowl and noticed a indent on one side so figured it was leaking in this area, after sanding flat put it back on and same issue leaking, now figured the gasket.

replaced the gasket and no fixed so removed the carb, what I found was the float plunger was not fully shutting off the flow causing the carb to overfill, careful inspection I found a hair, yes a hair in the inlet tube and thro the plunger hole allowing a amount of fuel to overfill the bowl, first tome a hair but where from, .

anyway cleaned the carb fully and now it runs great again Im guessing the hair was there before just the pump was not working 100%
